Pyracantha Bonsai

The Pyracantha Bonsai is an outdoor bonsai, admired for its delicate evergreen foliage, textured bark and spectacular seasonal display. Its small white flowers appear in spring, followed by clusters of vibrant berries in shades of red, orange or yellow later in the year. Combined with its naturally branching growth and compact character, the Pyracantha makes a striking and lively bonsai with plenty of seasonal interest. Hardy and resilient by nature, it is well suited to bonsai cultivation and, with the right care, can be enjoyed for many years.

Pyracantha, commonly known as Firethorn, is native to parts of Europe and Asia. It is widely appreciated as an ornamental plant thanks to its attractive flowers, colourful berries and evergreen foliage.

Care

Light
Place your Pyracantha Bonsai in a bright location with plenty of direct sunlight. Several hours of sunlight each day will help maintain healthy growth and encourage flowering and berry production. Outdoors is generally the best environment, especially during the growing season.

Water
Water thoroughly when the top layer of soil starts to feel slightly dry. Allow excess water to drain away and never leave the bonsai standing in water. Pyracantha prefers evenly moist soil, particularly during warmer periods, but does not tolerate prolonged waterlogging.

Temperature
Pyracantha Bonsai are hardy and prefer cooler outdoor conditions. They can tolerate cold temperatures and seasonal changes, making them well suited to outdoor living throughout much of the year. Protect the tree from prolonged periods of severe frost and avoid sudden temperature changes. During warmer periods, ensure good airflow and provide sufficient water to prevent the soil from drying out completely.
