Coffea arabica (with pot)

The Coffea Arabica, also known as the Arabica Coffee Plant, is a beautiful evergreen houseplant with glossy, deep green leaves and a naturally elegant growth habit. With the right conditions, this tropical plant can produce small, fragrant white flowers that may eventually develop into coffee cherries. 

Origin of the Coffee Arabica

The Coffee Arabica is native to the highlands of Ethiopia and South Sudan, where it naturally grows in warm, humid environments. Today, it is cultivated in many tropical and subtropical regions around the world for its high-quality coffee beans. In its natural habitat, the plant grows beneath taller vegetation, receiving bright but filtered sunlight. This explains its preference for warmth, humidity and plenty of indirect light.

Water
Keep the potting soil slightly moist, but avoid allowing the plant to stand in water. Water when the top layer of the soil feels slightly dry, and make sure excess water can drain away properly. During spring and summer, the Coffee Arabica generally needs more water, while watering can be reduced slightly during autumn and winter.

Light
The Coffee Arabica prefers a spot with bright, indirect light. It can tolerate some gentle morning or evening sunlight, but strong direct sunlight can scorch the leaves. A well-lit position encourages healthy growth and can also support flowering and fruit development.

Fertilizer
During spring and summer, feed the Coffee Arabica once every two to four weeks with fertilizer for green houseplants. Regular feeding during the growing season supports healthy leaf growth and helps the plant maintain its rich green color. In autumn and winter, reduce or stop fertilizing as growth naturally slows down.

Temperature
This tropical houseplant thrives at temperatures between 18 and 27°C. Protect the Coffee Arabica from cold drafts, sudden temperature changes and temperatures below 15°C. A higher humidity level is beneficial and helps keep the leaves fresh, glossy and healthy.
