The 'Spotlight Green' cultivar is part of the Spotlight series, developed for its attractive foliage and excellent branching habit. Compared with many botanical forms of Begonia maculata, this variety grows particularly vigorously and develops a fuller appearance. It is an excellent choice for plant enthusiasts looking for a decorative indoor plant with distinctive spotted leaves. With the right balance of light, moisture and humidity, it can thrive and maintain its beautiful foliage.

Height: approximately 25 cm
Pot diameter: 11 cm

Care

Light

Place your Begonia maculata 'Spotlight Green' in a bright location with plenty of indirect sunlight. Good, filtered light supports healthy growth and helps maintain the beautiful contrast of its silvery-spotted leaves. Avoid strong direct sunlight, as this can scorch the foliage and cause discolouration. Water thoroughly when the surface of the growing medium begins to feel dry, and allow excess water to drain away freely. Avoid overwatering or leaving the roots standing in water, as this can lead to root rot. During the cooler months, reduce watering as the plant's growth naturally slows.

Temperature

The Begonia maculata 'Spotlight Green' thrives in warm indoor conditions, ideally between 18 and 25°C. Protect it from cold draughts, sudden temperature changes and prolonged exposure to low temperatures. Moderate to high humidity helps keep the foliage healthy and supports vigorous growth. Ensure good air circulation around the plant, and avoid leaving the leaves wet for extended periods. During the growing season, occasional feeding with a balanced liquid houseplant fertiliser can encourage healthy development and help the plant maintain its full, bushy appearance.
